Liquid Sky redefines the arrival experience at W Dubai – The Palm. What would normally be a simple porte-cochère is transformed into an immersive lighting installation, enveloping guests in a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere from the very first moment.





Inspired by the surrounding waters of Palm Jumeirah, the design translates the movement of waves into an architectural ceiling of curved, fluid fins. Light turns this structure into a living canvas: a digital sky that shifts from tranquil turquoise tones to warm sunsets, or energetic, nightlife-inspired scenes that capture the bold spirit of Dubai.





Concept & Design

The vision was clear: to create a striking landmark that embodies the bold identity of W Hotels while elevating the guest arrival into an artistic encounter.
The installation transforms a transitional space into a destination — a place to admire, capture, and share.
The visual narrative takes inspiration from liquid motion, echoing the coastal context of Palm Jumeirah.
Each lighting scene is designed to resonate emotionally, evoking surprise, calm, or energy depending on the moment.




Technical Innovation

The complexity of Liquid Sky lies in the seamless integration of custom architecture and advanced lighting technology:
-Lighting system: thousands of addressable RGBW LED pixels embedded within bespoke extrusions.
-Seamless diffusion: specialized materials ensure continuous, uninterrupted lines of light.
Creative control: a DMX-based control system transforms the ceiling into a low-resolution video canvas with dynamic, programmable scenes.
Durability: IP67-rated components built to withstand Dubai’s demanding climate.
This combination allows maximum flexibility, enabling the ceiling to adapt instantly for national holidays, private events, or brand activations with tailor-made lighting narratives.
